Rosie & Fiona

Eliana - Grade 4

Chapter one

One year ago

(Rosie)

One day in the deep parts of the forest, Rosie, a calm quiet rabbit who was surprisingly fast, was running full speed away from a fox. Now this wasn’t any old fox, this was the leader of the pack. He was trying to find a meal for his fox family. He was super-fast, and no rabbit had ever outrun him. Finally, she decided to hide in a hollow log until he left but he didn’t leave. After a while his daughter ran up to him and begged him to stop threatening this rabbit. Finally, he left and went home.

His daughter Fiona stayed to apologize to the rabbit, and they talked for a lone period of time. Sometime later Rosie, the rabbit, decided to come out and talk. She was so shy, she rarely spoke and mostly nodded. Rosie decided to go home, and she didn’t tell her parents a thing. She just said she was looking for berries and found nothing. The next day, Rosie went to her usual spot in the woods and found a fox there. She was about to run when she saw the face and noticed it looked so familiar. She remembered it was Fiona, the fox that saved her! They played the whole morning until their parents called for lunch. They continued doing it for days and after a while they decided to be best friends.

Chapter Two

One year ago

(Fiona)

One day Fiona, a brave, confidant, and very loud fox was running around when it was past dinner time, so she went out to look for her dad. She found him threatening a small rabbit about her age. Fiona put herself in the rabbit's shoes and thought “I would totally be scared and afraid if a predator was chasing me.” So, Fiona begged her dad to stop and surprisingly, he did! They talked for a while and Fiona noticed Rosie was very shy and quiet, in fact she barely spoke!

After a long period of time, Rosie left and so did Fiona. When Fiona got home, boy was her dad disappointed in her! He said, “Fiona, I know you don’t like seeing people being treated unfairly, but that was our dinner!” He stormed out of the room to go to sleep. Fiona was mad at herself, but her mom said she was just always trying to help others and sometimes it affects her dad's temper. That night she went to sleep feeling mad at herself and she barely got any sleep.

Chapter three

(Rosie)

Rosie and Fiona hung out every day in their secret hideout, their friendship grew and grew until they were like Hansel and Gretel, best friends forever. It was really hard for Rosie because she had to hide it from most of her family but not all. The only person that knew was her loving granny, she accepted everybody and was also against predators, only threatening them and not becoming friends with them. Finally, Rosie agreed to let her granny meet Fiona and her granny was so excited. When her granny met Fiona there was a surprise there too! Fiona also on the same day brought her pop pop along, who was the only person she told.

Rosie’s granny and Fiona's pop pop got along very well they started talking about sit-ins for anti-prey and predator. Rosie and Fiona were happy they were getting along so well, and they even joined the conversation to talk about peaceful protests. The next day they found a spot in the woods for granny and pop pop to go to when they wanted to talk and make signs.

Chapter four

Rosie and Fiona hung out every day as their friendship grew stronger and stronger. The only person Fiona told was her pop pop because he was also against predators chasing prey one day Fiona felt the urge to bring pop pop to introduce him to Rosie. When Fiona got there, she found Rosie and her granny waiting for them. Rosie said, “This is the only person I told,” Fiona said “Me too! This is my pop pop,” Rosie’s granny got along great with Fiona’s pop pop.

They both agreed on sit-ins and protest on anti-prey and predator. Rosie and Fiona agreed to go find a blank spot for them to talk and create signs and when they saw it the next day, they were so happy! They thanked them and got to work. They continued this and they became almost as close as Rosie and Fiona. (But not as close as them.) They were happy and life was great.

Chapter five

Four months ago

(Rosie)

One day Rosie and Fiona were both playing when their parents called out. They were so busy they didn’t hear them. After five minutes both Rosie and Fiona’s parents ran over trying to find each of them, they saw it all, them playing and worst of all they saw each other. Fiona's dad remembered Rosie and got ready to charge but just in time, pop pop and granny came running in to stop him. They did but barely. Rosie and Fiona tried to explain but their parents were so disappointed they didn’t even listen to a word they said. They brought Rosie home and they grounded her for life!

Rosie was sent to her room to think about what could have happened if she found out Fiona was faking it just so her family could have a good meal. Rosie thought about but she knew Fiona too well. Fiona would never do that to her. After that, Rosie made a plan. Her plan was to sneak out of her room tonight to go to Fiona’s and they could talk about a real plan to convince their parents to let them be friends (and maybe their parents could even be friends too!) So, Rosie pretended to sleep until her parents were in bed when she opened her window and went out and she hopped to Fiona’s house where she opened her window, and they made a plan.

Chapter Six

One day Rosie and Fiona were playing in their fort when both of their parents called out for dinner, they didn’t hear them, so they continued to play. Finally, their parents came out and they saw it all, them together and each other. They tried to explain but their parents wouldn’t listen, so they dragged Fiona home and they grounded her for what seemed like life and there was only one thing left to do. Fiona sat at her desk making signs for the protest pop pop and granny had planned. After a while she felt tired and decided to go to sleep, she dreamed about playing with Rosie and then she woke up to someone walking around her room. She turned on her light and looked around and guess who she saw? Rosie!

Rosie said she snuck out of her room and hopped to her house so they could make a plan to stop her parents so they would let them stay best friends and they talked the whole night through.

Chapter seven

Two months ago

(Rosie)

When she went over to Fiona’s it was so early Rosie fell asleep on the floor and Fiona let her sleep and after a while, she fell asleep too. In the morning Fiona’s mom was yelling harshly for Fiona to wake up and she started walking up the stairs, but Rosie heard her and woke up Fiona just in time to make her lock the door and say, “I’m getting dressed!” It worked, and Fiona ate her meals in her room so she could share it with Rosie. But for dinner with the meat Rosie refused to eat it. After the planning of the slideshow they made and what they would say about the fact that it would be better for them to be friends than prey and predator.

Rosie went home and she went into her room, and she found three meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the ground also, her parents never knew she was at Fiona’s house the whole day. They thought she was reading and sleeping.

Chapter eight

Two months ago

(Fiona)

Now that Rosie was over Fiona had someone to talk to but not for long, after a while Rosie fell asleep on the floor and after a bit Fiona fell asleep too. In the morning Fiona’s mom was yelling for her to wake up and she was about to barge in when Rosie woke her up and made her lock the door and say, “I’m getting dressed!” It worked and Rosie was hungry so she made her mom slide her meals under the door so Fiona could share them with Rosie. That happened the whole day as for Fiona’s mom, she thought Fiona was sleeping the whole day and didn’t want to wake up because she was to disappointed to come out of her room but her mom didn’t know that she was really just hiding the fact that Rosie and her were planning.

Fiona and Rosie’s plan was really good but nobody knew of it and after that day Rosie went home and they were so excited for the next day.

Chapter nine

Now

(Rosie & Fiona)

The next day Rosie went over to Fiona’s house, and they finished a slideshow about how it would be better for friends instead of enemies so once they finished it, they set it up early the next morning and they invited the parents over to watch it they showed it one time and the parents were still against it and they all said no. They tried again and again until they said fine we will try to be friends but if it doesn’t work they are done for.

Their parents talked and they found out they had a lot in common. The moms talked and the dads played golf together. They had so much fun they agreed that they were right, friends are better than enemies. So, they continued and even their parents were best friends they talked and played every single day.
